The upcoming holiday – March 8, the International Women's Day – may become even brighter for Astana residents and guests with Romeo and Juliet on the stage of Astana Opera. Astana Opera will stage the world’s masterpiece based on William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet and directed by French choreographer Charles Jude during the holidays, Tengrinews reports.
Romeo and Juliet first premiered in Astana Opera in December 2013.
The spectators will be able to plunge into the era of the heroic exploits with its elegant decor and spectacular costumes made by Italian masters Ezio Frigerio and Franco Skuarchapino.
The great music of Sergei Prokofiev will certainly hold the audience in a state of extreme emotional tension. Aidar Abzhahanov will be conducting the orchestra.
Astana Opera leading ballerinas Madina Basbayeva and Aygerim Beketayeva will star as Juliet, while Romeo’s feelings will be conveyed by Takhir Gatauov and Yerkin Rakhmatullayev. Doszhan Tabyldy and Serzhan Kaukov will play Tybalt, whereas Serik Nakyspekov and Arman Urazov will star as Mercutio.
Presenting the holiday show the artistic director of the ballet troupe of Astana Opera Tursynbek Nurkaliyev wished all the women good mood, health and well-being.
The ballet will begin at 7 p.m. on March 8 in Astana Opera House located on Kunayev street, at the crossing with Turan avenue.
