Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrissov declared at the 39th session of the Foreign Ministers Council of the Islamic Organization for Cooperation (OIC) in Djibouti that Kazakhstan condemned Israel's air strikes on Gaza Strip, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the Ministry's press-service. "We condemn the air strikes of Israel on Gaza Strip that claimed lives of civilians and damaged infrastructure. As the history shows, the policy of repressions will not bring peace and security to Israel. Both parties have to immediately take measures to prevent any further escalation of the conflict, perform their obligations in the international humanitarian law and focus on resolution of the fundamental problems of Palestinian-Israeli conflict," Idrissov said. He noted that one of the strategic goals of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OIC was to unite the efforts on rendering support to Palestine. According to him, Palestine has to take its legitimate place as a full member of the United Nations. "Chaired by Kazakhstan, the OIC sent its delegation to Vatican for the first time to raise the issue of Palestinian sovereignty over the property of the Catholic church on occupied territories. We are also actively promoting Palestinian case in different international forums. Together we have to continue asserting the rights of Palestinian people to create their own independent state at the Palestinian territories within the boundaries of 1967 with the capital in Eastern Jerusalem," Idrissov said. Besides, according to Foreign Minister, Kazakhstan has to continue standing up against hatred, intolerance and islamophobia and condemning all terrorist activities. The Israeli army said it had carried out 466 air strikes since it launched "Operation Pillar of Defence" on Wednesday afternoon with the targeted killing of Hamas commander Ahmed Jaabari.
