Massimov expressed condolences to families of Zhanaozen victims

Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Karim Massimov expressed condolences to families of the victims of clashes in Zhanaozen at the government meeting in Astana on December 20, Tengrinews.kz reports. He said that the government will render them support as per the President’s instructions. The government’s objective is to stabilize the situation in the region as soon as possible, repair the buildings and prevent medications and food deficiency. Massimov instructed to ensure round-the-clock work of the ambulance and the hospitals. Besides, the government has to estimate the exact amount of damage caused by riots. December 19 Prime-Minister signed the decree On creation of the government commission for urgent solution of social-economic, humanitarian and other issues arising from clashes in Zhanaozen. The government commission is made of 17 people, including Akim (Governor) of Mangistau oblast, minister and representatives of national companies. Clashes in Zhanaozen started on December 16 during celebration of the Independence Day. 14 people fell victims of the clashes.
