World's longest baursak - a Kazakh national daughnut - will be baked in Karaganda, Tengrinews.kz reports. It has good chances for getting into the Guinness Book of Records. Citizens of Karaganda-city plan to bake a 200-meter long baursak that will weight about 200-250 kilograms. “Dozens and maybe hundreds of kilograms of required ingredients will be used to bake the longest baursak in the world,” the invitation letter to the event reads. Organizers are focusing on the length of the baursak, but not on its round shape (baursaks are usually round). Karaganda political leaders, artists, Astana.kz the prominent KVN (Club of Cheerful and Sharp-witted) team and media representatives will witness the record. The event is dedicated to the 20-th anniversary of Independence of Kazakhstan and will be held on December, 2. Boortsog, boorsoq, or baursak is a type of fried dough found in the cuisines of Central Asia. They may be thought of as cookies or biscuits, and since they are fried, they are sometimes compared to doughnuts.
