Zarina Diyas in top 16 brightest at Australia Open

Kazakhstan’s finest tennis player Zarina Diyas, 21, has been named one of the brightest competitors of the Australia Open according to Eurosport, Tengrinews reports.

Kazakhstan’s finest tennis player Zarina Diyas, 21, has been named one of the brightest competitors of the Australia Open according to Eurosport, Tengrinews reports.

All the tennis players that made the list are young, beautiful and exceptionally gifted. Eurosport noted that all of them could grace covers of men’s magazines.

Other tennis players that made the list are x (Bulgaria, 27), Andrea Petkovic (Germany, 27), Timea Babos (Hungary, 21), Elina Svitolina (Ukraine, 20), Monica Puig (Puerto Rico, 21), Lesia Tsurenko (Ukraine, 25), Vitalia Diatchenko (Russia, 24), Sloane Stephens (USA, 21), Sorana Cirstea (Romania, 24), Aleksandra Krunic (Serbia, 21), Bojana Jovanovski (Serbia, 23), Julia Görges (Germany, 26), Donna Vekic (Croatia, 18), Nicole Gibbs (USA, 21) and Eugenie Bouchard (Canada, 20).

Earlier, Kazakhstani tennis player Diyas lost to World No.2 Maria Sharapova in the third round of the Australian Open.

“Unfortunately I could not show my best tennis against Sharapova. She was great. I liked the Rod Laver arena a lot for its unforgettable atmosphere. After that match I received so many warm messages from Kazakhstani fans. I want to thank them for their support,” Diyas said.

This year, Diyas has a goal to get into the Top 20 in the WTA. At the moment, the tennis player is ranked 31st. In February, she will compete at the Federation Cup in China as a part of the national team of Kazakhstan. Before hitting Roland Garros, Diyas will compete in Stuttgart, Madrid and Rome.
