After Daniel Jacobs won his WBA middleweight championship title in the fight against Jarrod Fletcher, he declared that he would do a better job fighting Gennady Golovkin that Curtis Stevens did back in November, 2013. Back then despite Stevens’ confident talk, he was TKOed in the 8th round.

Jacobs, a New York native, TKOed Fletcher in the 5th round of the 12 round fight in his hometown last week.

Jacobs, who claimed a vacant WBA (regular) middleweight title said that he would love to fight any champion in his weight division. This includes Gennady Golovkin. Stevens, another New York boxer in the same middleweight category lost to Golovkin in the 8th round of the 12 round title fight.

But Jacobs is confident that he would not be an easy opponent for Golovkin of Kazakhstan.

“Me and Curtis are two totally different fighers. He’s more of an aggressive slugger like Mike Tyson. I’m more of a boxer-puncher, so my style’s a bit different, and I also switch at times, too. So I can be a bit tricky in there at times. I think I’ll apply a little bit different skill than Curtis,” Jacobs said.

Not long ago the unbeaten Kazakhstani boxer successfully defended his title against the Aussia boxer Daniel Geale. His next opponent is yet unknown. Golovkin, in turn, wants to fight Miguel Cotto.

IBF and WBA lightweight champion Bernard Hopkins implied that he might go down in weight to face Gennady Golovkin.
