Tennis: Putintseva moved 19 lines up in WTA rating

Kazakhstan tennis professional Yuliya Putintseva moved to the 106th line in the updated ranking of Women Tennis Association (WTA) and improved her position by moving 19 lines up, Vesti.kz reports. Putintseva managed to achieve this result because she has got into the finals of the ITF 15th Al Habtoor Tennis Challenge tournament that was held in Dubai, UAE. The prize money of the tournament amounted to $75 000. The 17-y.o. Kazakhstan tennis professional won over Czech Kristyna Pliskova with the score of 2:4, 6:4, 7:6. Putintseva lost the first set to the Czech tennis professional but managed to put up a fight in the second set. Then the match was stopped because of a bad weather. When the match was resumed, the Kazakhstan player managed to win over Pliskova. Putintseva was ranked 125th and 20-y.o. Pliskova was ranked 110th before the tournament. They played against each other only once before and the Czech player won the match then. Kazakhstan’s Yuliya Putintseva played against Japan’s Kimiko Date-Krumm in the finals of the tournament and lost 6:1, 3:6, 6:4. The winner of the tournament Japan’s Kimiko Date-Krumm made it in into the WTA Top-100 and is ranked 99th at present. She was ranked 121st before the tournament. Kazakhstan No.1 in tennis Yaroslava Shvedova kept her 29th line in the ranking after the 52nd week of the tournaments. Galina Voskoboyeva moved one line up and is ranked 82nd at present. There have been no changes in the TOP-10 of the ranking. Belarus Viktoria Azarenka is still the leader of the ranking. Russia’s Maria Sharapova and American Serena Williams follow her.
