Skiing: Kazakhstan's Alexey Poltoranin wins 15-kilometers mass start of Tour de Ski in Switzerland

Kazakhstan skier Alexey Poltoranin has won the classic 15-kilometer mass start at the fourth stage of Tour de Ski held in Lenzerheide, Switzerland on January 1, 2014, Vesti.kz reports. It was his first victory in this season. Kazakhstan athlete covered the distance in 34 minutes and 28.1 seconds. Hennes Dotzler from Germany won the 2nd place finishing only 0.6 second behind the Kazakhstan winner. And Russian Stanislav Volzhentsev finished in the 3rd place. This victory brought Poltoranin to the second place in the overall ranking of the World Cup. However two days later neither Alexey Poltoranin no Kazakhstan's second representative Roman Ragozin showed up at the start of the next stage of Tour de Ski in Toblach, Italy, so as 20 other skiers out of the 90 registered for the race. There is no information on reasons of their absence. 2013–14 FIS Cross-Country World Cup is a multi-race tournament over the season for cross-country skiers. The season started on November 29, 2013 in Kuusamo, Finland and will finish on March 16, 2014 in Falun, Sweden. The season's biggest event is the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
