Skiing: Kazakhstan skier Poltoranin won two gold medals in Finland

Kazakhstan skier Aleksey Poltoranin, champion of 2011 Asian Games, won two gold medals at International Skiing race that was held in Finland’s city of Munio, Vesti.kz reports. Kazakhstan skier won a 10-kilometer classic race on November 17. Another Kazakhstan skier Anna Stoyan won bronze in U-20 category. Her fellow countryman Sergey Malyshev won gold. In his case the referees had to decide who was the winner with the help of photo finish equipment. Malyshev was ahead of Norway’s Eivind Heimdal by a mere five hundredth of a second. Earlier Poltoranin gained a gold medal in sprint by winning over his fellow countrymen Nikolay Chebotko and Denis Volotka who came second and third correspondingly. Poland’s Yustiana Kovalchuk was the fastest skier in ski sprint among women. Anastassiya Slonova became the best Kazakhstan female skier, she came 25th.
