With his career in full swing, Gennady Golovkin from Kazakhstan is busy preparing for the upcoming fight against Daniel Geale on July 27 at Madison Square Garden. There the unbeaten Kazakhstani champion will defend his title for the 11th time.
This year promises to be a busy time for Golovkin as rumours of his possible next fight are circulating in the media. Oscar De La Hoya from Golden Boy Promotions said that he wanted to organize a fight between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31 KOs) and Golovkin (29-0, 26 KOs).
“GGG is a dangerous fighter. That's what Canelo is after,” the promoter said. De La Hoya added that the young boxer might face Miguel Cotto and James Kirkland in future.
Canelo’s promoter is not the only one interested in a fight against Golovkin. Australian middleweight champion Sam “King” Soliman said that he wanted to fight the winner of Geale-Golovkin fight. “`I think I have the style to frustrate Golovkin and hopefully he’ll be ready to fight me for the unified world title around November,” Soliman said.
