Kazakhstan representative in female boxing, 23-y.o. Marina Volnova, could not get into the final of the London Olympics after losing to 17-y.o. American Claressa Shields, Vesti.kz reports. Kazakhstan sportswoman performing in -75kg category lost all four rounds to her opponent (5:7, 3:5, 3:8, 4:9). The final count was 15:29. She is a winner of the Panamerican Games, three-time U.S. Junior Champion and two-time winner of U.S. Championship. Kazakhstan's Volnova won a bronze medal. Marina has gone down in history as the first winner of an Olympic medal in Kazakhstan female boxing. Earlier the boxer won over the world champion Savannah Marshall in quarterfinal and Kenyan Elizabeth Andiego in round of 16. Marina Volnova came to boxing 7 years ago (she used to be a judoka before). Her achievements include a gold medal at the Asian Championship in 2010 and a silver medal at the World Championship in 2010. She is a four-time winner of Kazakhstan Boxing Championship. She was born in Kazalinsk (Kyzylorda oblast). Mike Tyson is her favorite boxer.
