Olympics: Kazakhstan speed-skater Denis Kuzin 7th in men's 1000m race

Speed-skater Denis Kuzin of Kazakhstan has won the 7th place in the men's 1000-meter race at the Winter Olympics 2014 in Sochi, Russia, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz. Denis Kuzin, 25, beat the Italian speed-skater Mirko Nenzi in the 1000 meter race. Kuzin covered the distance in 1 minute and 9.1 seconds. However, in the end he was 0.71 seconds behind Ducth Stefan Groothuis, the gold winner of this competition. Canadian speed-skater Danny Morrison won the silver medal and Michel Mulder from Netherlands won the bronze. Two more Kazakhstan representatives Roman Krech and Fedor Mezentsev participated in the race and finished in the 13th and 33rd places respectively. Speed-skater Denis Kuzin is the current World Champion. He won the gold medal in the 1000-meter race at the World Single Distance Championships, held in Sochi, Russia in 2013. The 22th Winter Olympic Games kicked off on February 8, 2014 in Sochi, Russia. This Olympics have already set several records: 88 countries are participating in the Olympics this year, which is 6 countries more than the Vancouver record set four years ago, besides the Sochi Olympics will award 12 more medal sets than in 2010. The Winter Olympics will last until February 23, 2014. Kazakhstan is represented by 52 athletes in 10 different sports at the Olympics. Kazakhstan national team has gained 58 licenses for the Sochi Winter Olympics 2014.
