Kazaksha Kures might be included in Summer Asian Games

Kazakhsa Kures (Kazakh Fighting) might become a part of the Summer Asian Games program, Tengrinews.kz reports. Talgat Yermegiyayev, head of the National Sports and Physical Education Agency made this proposal during the Senat's session where the deputies discussed the LawOn Physical Education and Sports. “It is necessary to create a Center of Kazakh National Sports under the Sports and Physical Education Agency to develop the national sports. Besides, Kazakhsa Kures, national Kazakh Fighting, should be included into the Summer Asian Games program. National fighting clubs specializing in national sports should be created at Junior Sports Schools in Astana, Almaty and other cities,” Talgat Yermegiyayev said on March 12. According to the head of the Agency more than one billion tenge ($6.8 million) was allocated to fund national sports in 2011. Kazaksha kures is a popular Kazakh national wrestling contest. Kazaksha-kures accompanied many traditional Kazakh holidays. There are different kinds of Kazaksha kures. For example, fighters could wrestle naked up to the waist, be barefoot, or wrestle in boots with long boot-tops. The goal of a fight is to throw rival on his back. At present Kazaksha-kures is recognized in many countries of the world. A Code of rules or Kazaksha-kures in Kazakh, Russian and English languages was published in 2000. The First national Kazakhsa-Kures Championship was held in Astana in 2000.
