Kazakhstan wins Canada 4:2 in hockey

The Kazakhstan men’s hockey team won Canada 4:2 at the Winter Universiade preliminaries in Tretino, Italy, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz . The Canadians had a good start and were leading 1-0 “after the opening period thanks to Tyler Carroll’s first of the tourney at the 13:31 mark”, Canada University Sports writes. However, the Kazakhstan team turned the scales in their favor with three goals. Leonid Metalnikov of the Kazakhstan team scored 32 seconds into the period. Later, Nikita Kovzalov brought the score to 2-1 at 9:22. Then Yevgeniy Rymarev added one more pluck to Kazakhstan’s lead 2:34 before the break. The Red and Whites tried hard to reverse the course of the match. Defenceman Simon Lacroix managed to score one more goal for Canada. The Kazakhstan hockey team won the Canadians. They are ranked 1st in the group C and the Canadians are in the 2nd place. Both teams have advanced into the quarterfinals. Before taking on the Canadians, the Kazakhstan team won the Ukrainian team 4:2 and the Japanese 3:1. The quarterfinals are scheduled for December 18.
