Kazakhstan athletes will get $250 000 for London Olympics gold medals, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing chairman of Kazakhstan Sport and Physical Education Agency. “The first place will be awarded with $250 000, the second place with $150 000, the third with $75000, the fourth - $30 000, the fifth - $10000 and the sixth with $5000. Every athlete, who will gain these medals, will get this prize money,” Talgat Yermegiyayev said. The head of the Agency said that the total elite sport budget made up more than four billion tenge ($27 million). About 2 billion tenge ($13.5 million) are being spent on training camps and different events in which the athletes should participate. Earlier Yermegiyayev requested almost one billion tenge ($6.8 million) from the government to spend them on sports facilities, medical and biological equipment, sports gear and fans’ clothes. Talgat Yermegiyayev also added that famous Kazakhstan designer Kuralay Nurkadilova has designed Kazakhstan national team’s sports uniform.
