15-year-old Kazakhstan’s prodigy Zhansaya Abdumalik has demonstrated the best result among women at the 14th International Chess Festival Prague Open 2015, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
The tournament was held in Prague, the Czech Republic on January 9-16, 2015 as a part of the Czech Tour 2014/2015 Series.
After completing nine rounds, Abdumalik earned six points and attained the best result among women.
The winner of the tournament was GM Alexander Nosenko from Ukraine who got eight points.
“Zhansaya increased her rating by 10 points at the tournament in the Czech Republic,” the girl’s father Daniyar Ashirov said, “It is probably not that much, but what is important is that it (the rating) keeps growing.”
Daniyar Ashirov also spoke about the coming tournaments where Zhansaya would take part: “In the January’s end, Cappelle La Grande will be held in France followed by Reykjavik Open in Iceland. These are very high profile tournaments brining together leader chess players and therefore we would like to participate.”
