Ice Hockey: Kazakhstan women’s national team defeats North Korea in World Championship

The Kazakhstan women’s national ice hockey team has defeated the North Korean team with the score of 6:2 in the first division match of the 2013 Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship that is being held in Strasbourg, France on April 7-13, Vesti.kz reports. The Kazakhstan hockey players opened the score as early as at the 48th second of the match. Larissa Sviridova of Kazakhstan was the first Kazakhstan hockey player to deliver a puck in the World Championship. The North Korean players managed to even the score in the beginning of the second period, however, Kazakhstan’s Galina Shu delivered the second puck and her teammate Zarina Tukhtiyeva increased the score margin. North Korean Re Huin Mi made up the ground by her second puck at the 38th minute of the match. Then Kazakhstan’s Tukhtiyeva delivered her second puck. Meruert Ryspek hit the North Korean gates for the fifth time at the 54th minute into the match. Viktoria Sazonova, Kazakhstan’s team captain, set the ultimate score of 6:2 and finished the crashing match. The British team played against the Chinese team earlier. The latter defeated the British players with the score of 6:1. The first day of the Championship was over after the match between the Netherlands and France with the score of 2:4. The Kazakhstan’s team played against the British team on April 8 and defeated it 4:3.
