Gennady Golovkin’s (29-0, 26 KO’s) coach Abel Sanchez thinks GGG is ready to defend his WBA belt for 11th time against the Australian boxer Jarrod Fletcher (18-1, 10 KO’s), Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
“I knew of the WBA's order that Gennady face Fletcher but Gennady was the mandatory to face Felix Sturm for two-and-a-half years before Felix Sturm got moved up to 'Super Champion' status in order to avoid him, so that's not something that they haven't done in the past. Tom (Loeffler) and the management team will decide where we go and how we have to approach that but if that's the fight we have to take, then so be it. We have to just make sure that the fans understand that it's not up to us. Gennady wants the big names but if we can't get them because of things like this, that's not really Gennadys' fault." Sanchez said.
World Boxing Association (WBA) ordered Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin to defend his middleweight title against Australian Jarrod 'Left Jab' Fletcher. To defend his title, Kazakhstani boxer has 30 days to initiate negotiations with Fletcher and schedule a fight starting May 13th. After that, GGG and Left Jab will have to face each other in the ring within 120 days. The fight against the Australian boxer will mark the 30th fight for Golovkin.
