Fight between Golovkin and Lemieux won't last 12 rounds says Sanchez

The trainer of the Kazakhstani boxer Gennady Golovkin Abel Sanchez has said that the fight of his boxer and David Lemieux will not last 12 rounds, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz with a reference to the fan group Gennady Golovkin GGG in VKontakte social network.

Kazakhstani WBA Super, IBO and WBC Interim Middleweight champion GGG Gennady Golovkin is going to fight David Lemieux, IBF Middleweight Champion from Canada on October 17. The title unification bout will be held at the Mecca of Boxing, Madison Square Garden in New York. One of the most anticipated boxing events of this year, the fight will be Golovkin’s first pay-per-view (PPV).

GGG’s opponent David Lemieux is looking forward to the fight of two great punchers. “I hope and expect this will be the best fight of the last five years,” Lemieux told ESPN.com. “I am well aware of what kind of power I am facing, but I'm not worried about it…I've said very honestly that I don't care who I fight, so long as they are the best, and Golovkin is the best out there in the middleweight division. And I consider myself fully of his caliber.”

Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez believes in his boxer’s strength, saying that the fight between the two champions will not last 12 rounds. “All great boxers were shocked or knocked down at some point. I have this question on my mind, ‘If this happens to him [Golovkin], how will he react?’ And we don’t know how we will react in a corner on what we haven’t seen before. But I’m sure that the fight will not last 12 rounds. As I said, Golovkin will go down in history as one of the best punchers and one of the best middleweight fighters. On October 17 the first step to prove it will be made," Sanchez said.

Sanchez also commented on Golovkin’s participation in the Apple Watch commercial. "Apple ads is a market where boxers get very rarely. And I hope there will be more champions there. But for this, they need their identity in the ring match the personality outside the ring and vice versa. You have to be the one who we, fans of boxing, want to see in advertising. Otherwise, the big companies do not come to us. I hope that Golovkin was the first of many boxers who will eventually receive such advertising contracts. It's good for our sport,” the trainer said.

Triple G himself promised a big show against Lemieux. “This is going to be like a street fight," Golovkin told  SkySports.com. “He has a good style - almost like amateur style. I will beat any style - amateur style or brawl style. He will be a good test for me.”
