Elena Khrustaleva wins sprint at Asian Biathlon Championship

Olympic silver winner Elena Khrustaleva from Kazakhstan has won the sprint competition at the Asian Biathlon Championship in Astana, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz. Another Kazakhstan's biathlete Galina Vishnevskaya got the second place in the sprint competition, and Olga Poltoranina finished third. Olga is the wife of Kazakhstan's famous skier Alexey Poltoranin. Biathletes from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Japan and China are competing at the Asian Biathlon Championship. The final of the championship is on January 31, 2014. It is the last stage before the Sochi Olympics and the last chance for qualify for some. 10 biathletes will represent Kazakhstan at the Winter Olympics. Elena Khrustaleva, Yan Savitsky, Anton Pantov, Alexander Trifonov, Dias Keneshev, Sergei Naumik, Galina Vishnevskaya, Dariya Usanova, Marina Lebedeva and Alina Raikova will be competing for medals in Sochi. The Winter Olympics will take place from February 7 to 23.
