Denis Ten came seventh in Nice World Championship

Kazakhstan figure skater Denis Ten came seventh in the Nice World Championship, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing the International Skating Union's website. The 18-y.o. figure skater gained 229.70 points after the short and free skating programs and was ahead of prominent skaters like Javier Fernandez from Spain and Jeremy Abbott from the U.S.. Denis Ten was 14th after both programs in Moscow World Championship in 2011. He became 11th in Vancouver Olympic Games. He was ranked 8th World Figure Skating Championship in 2009 and now he is ranked 7th in the Niche World Championship. Patrick Chan of Canada retained his world champion title. He secured 266.11 points. Japanese Daisuke Takahashi, former bronze Olympic prize-winner, earned silver and his fellow countryman Yuzuru Hanyu got the bronze medal of the men's championship. Olympic champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir once again won the ice dancing championship. 2011 world champions Charlie White and Meryl Davis from the U.S. won the silver medal and French duo Nathalie Peshalat and Fabian Bourzat got the bronze modal. German figure skaters Aliona Savchenko/Robin Szolkowy struck gold among sports duos, taking their fourth World title. They were only 0.11 points ahead of Tatyana Volosozhar/Maxim Trankov from Russia. Japanese Narumi Takahashi/Mervin Tran won the third place. Carolina Kostner made figure skating history by winning the first Ladies world title for Italy. Alena Leonova of Russia earned the silver medal and Japan's Akiko Suzuki took the bronze. It was the first World medal for Leonova and Suzuki.
