Kazakhstan Cycling Federation has made an official statement regarding Alexandre Vinokourov’s case, Vesti.kz reports. The Federation keeps track of the International Cycling Union's (UCI) investigation into the case, the press-release reads. “The fact that there is an investigation constitutes no precedent. There have been many investigations and more are launched every day in the elite sport at present. We are working closely with the UCI and looking forward to hearing the organization’s decision,” Allen Chaizhunussov, Kazakhstan Cycling Federation Vice President said. “I’d like to note that we will adhere to all UCI legal rules and regulations in any case.” Kazakhstan cyclist Alexandre Vinokourov is accused by investigative authorities of Italian city of Padua of 'buying' his victory in Liege-Bastogne-Liege classical one day race in April 2010. He allegedly prearranged the victory with Russia’s Alexandre Kolobnev, who came the second in the race only 6 seconds behind the winner. The victory allegedly cost the Kazakhstan cyclist 150 thousand euro. Russia’s Katyusha cycling team that Alexandre Kolobnev ride for has also made an official statement regarding the investigation. “Katyusha cycling team is aware of Vinokourov – Kolobnev case. Katyusha team will strictly adhere to all International Cycling Union’s legal rules and regulations and continue following them in future,” the official website of the team cited Vyachaslav Yekimov, General Manager of the team, as saying.
