Astana cycling team won the 1st stage of the prestigious super cycling marathon Vuelta of Spain on August 24, the official websiteof the team reports. Astana Pro Team led by one of the race' favorites Italian racer Vincenzo Nibali covered the distance of 27 kilometers in 29 minutes 11 seconds. American RadioShack team won the second place and Omega Pharma-Quick of Belgium took the third place. Astana's Slovenian cyclist Janez Brajkovic was the first cyclist to cross the finish line of the 27km course from Vilanova de Arousa to Sanxenxo and became the leader of the general ranking after the 1st stage of the race. The 2013 Vuelta a España is the 68th edition of Vuelta a España. The Vuelta started in Galicia on August 24. It will run during five days through Galicia, then continue anticlockwise touring Spain through Castilla y Leon, Extremadura, Andalucia, Aragon, Catalonia, La Rioja, Cantabria, and Asturias, before returning to Madrid for the closing on September 15. This year the tournament includes both team and individual distances, and also several mounting stages. The racers are to cover the total distance of more than 300 thousand kilometers.
