The WBA super light heavyweight champion Beibut Shumenov from Kazakhstan has declared that the fight against American Bernard Hopkins may be the hardest fight in his entire career, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz. Shumenov, 30, will face 49-y.o. Hopkins on April 19, 2014 in Washington. According to the Kazakh boxer, Hopkins is one of the greatest champions of all times, and he has never faced anyone like him before. "Since the day I knew that I would fight against Bernard, I have been living and breathing studying his bouts. Every time I watch his bouts I discover something new. When you fight against Hopkins you should expect anything. I have to be ready to fight a 'superhuman'," Shumenov said. Kazakhstan professional boxer Beibut Shumenov made the first defense of his title on 23 July 2010 when he won a unanimous decision against the previously undefeated Viacheslav Uzelkov. He successfully defended his title in Las Vegas on 29 July, 2011 against former Contender star Danny Santiago and again on June 2, 2012 in Las Vegas against Enrique Ornelas. In his last fight Beibut Shumenov defended his super WBA light heavyweight title in the fight against previously unbeaten Tamas Kovacs from Slovakia in December 2013. Shumenov smashed his rival in the third round and the referee stepped in to announce a TKO.
