Kazakhstani Astana Pro Team has been granted a provisional license for 2015 races, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.

Continuation

Earlier, the professional cycling team had to skip the Tour of Beijing because of positive doping tests. The team's cycler Maxim Iglinskiy tested positively for erythropoietin (EPO) in the beginning of the October. Before that Valentin Iglinskiy, Maxim's brother, also got a positive result on his test.

The UCI ruled that Astana Pro Team would have to face an audit from the University of Lausanne.

The President of UCI Brian Cookson said that the licence given to Astana could be considered a probation.

“We shall be following the situation very closely and are awaiting to review the results of the audit. Meanwhile, the team will have to comply with the requirements imposed by the licence commission. The combined effect of this is that the Astana Pro Team can be considered very much to be on probation,” Cookson said.

In turn, Astana Pro Team wrote on the official website: “Astana Pro Team is happy and proud to announce that we have received a 2015 World Tour License and will race at the highest level of the sport in the upcoming season”. The team thanked the cyclers, the management, families, sponsors, friends and fans for the support in the harsh times.

Meanwhile, Gazzetta Dello Sport published a list of cyclers who were allegedly connected with a doping doctor Michele Ferrari. The newspaper named 17 Astana cyclers in connection to Ferrari.
