Kazakhstan judoka Maksim Rakov became the winner of 2012 Judo Grand Prix in German Dusseldorf, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing the official International Judo Federation website. Kazakhstan judoka won over South Korean Hee-Tae Hwang in the final match of 100 kilograms weight league tournament. The prime time of the match finished with a score of 0:0 and only in the additional 3-minute time Rakov managed to successfully attack his rival several times. As a result judges awarded the victory to the Kazakhstan sportsman. Maksim Rakov won over New Zealand's Jasso Coster and Ukrainian Artem Bloshenko as part of Judo Grand Prix tournament beforehand. He overpowered Georgian Levan Zhorzholiani in the quarterfinals and won over Egyptian Ramadan Darvish in the semifinals of the event.
