Remy Di Gregorio: We have to be successful at Tour de France for Vino

French cyclist of Kazakhstan cycling team Astana Remy Di Gregorio said that he and his partners have to successfully finish Tour de France in honor of Aleksandr Vinokurov who left tha race because of an injury, the team’s official website writes. “The whole team’s strategy in this Tour de France was built around our leader, Aleksandr Vinokurov. I saw that he was in an excellent shape and capable for good result in the “Big Loop”. He is now in hospital and watching French multi-day race on TV. I think that we have to be successful in the rest of the stages for him,” Gregorio said. At the ninth stage of Tour de France, 98 km before the finish, Vinokurov got into a ditch and managed to get up only with the help of his partners. He was hospitalized immediately. Gregorio used to be one of the leaders on July 12 at the tenth stage of Tour de France between Aurillac and Carmaux but finished only the 100th. Tomas Vaitkus was the best of Astana team at this stage. Sportsmen from Lithuania finished the race on the 12th place. French cyclist Thomas Voeckler is a leader in the general classification. There are no Astana cyclists in the top 60 list. Gregorio is 62nd. He is 20 minutes behind Voeckler. 11th stage of the “Big Loop” will be held today, July 13, between Blaye-les-Mines and Lavaur.
