Astana residents made an attempt to get into the Guinness Book of World Records by cooking beshbarmak that weighted 300 kilograms, Tengrinews.kz reports. Two teams of cooks were engaged in the cooking process to fill the giant plate that was four meters in diameter. One team was bringing boiled meat and dough to the Khan Shatyr shopping mall hall and the other one was spreading beshbarmak evenly on the plate. The table setting took much more time than the meal itself. It took the guests of the mall only several minutes to eat up the whole plate. Kazbrend Public Fund that initiated the campaign had made two applications to the Guinness Book of World Records. One application was for the biggest meal, the second one for the biggest dance. About 500 students performed an ancient Kazakh dance Kara Zhorga in the hall of Khan Shatyr shopping mall while the beshbarmak was being cooked. “We wanted to combine these two nominations into one, but we had to follow the requirements that were set by the Guinness Book of World Records committee. It is clear that they will choose only one of the record. We hope that we will get into the Book with the biggest dance in the world biggest tent,” Aigul Batalova, one of the organizers said. The Guinness Book of World Records observers attended the event and had some questions after the campaign finished. The foreigners counted and confirmed only 400 dancers instrad of the stated 500 in the mall. “We hope that it wouldn't be a problem at all. We made photos and recorded the video during the event from a high point in the mall. We could count the dancers and prove the result to the Guinness Book of World Records observers. We are going to supply them with an evidence next week,” Batalova said.
