Astana administration is preparing a unique celebrations program for the 14th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s capital on July 6, Interfax-Kazakhstan writes citing the organization commission of the event. “This year's celebration of the birthday of Kazakhstan’s main city will traditionally start with the 3rd Astana International Festival of Action Films organized by a famous Russian filmmaker (of Kazakh origin) Timur Bekmambetov,” the message states. “The phenomenal Cirque du Soleil that has turned around the traditions of the classical circus and breathed a new life into them will be the most awaited event of July. Astana citizens and guests will be able to see the performance of the world-famous circus on July 4 and 5,” the commission writes. Besides, on July 5 the citizens will get a chance to enjoy “the performance of the most contemporary of all the classic singers, the world-famous Korean singer Sumi Jo”. “Her crystal soprano impresses the lovers of Paris Opera and La Scala, Covent Garden and Metropolitan. This will be the first time she performs on the stage of a Kazakhstan concert hall,” the message states. Ilya Averbukh’s ice show Stars on Ice will be held on July 7. It will include performances of Russian stars like ice-skater Tatyana Navka and a composer Igor Krutoy. “Specially for Astana birthday, the program of the ice show will include performances of Kazakhstan stars as well. One of them will be Nurzhamal Ussenbayeva,” the committee states. “The benefit evening of Sergei Makovetskiy, multifaceted, brilliant and unpredictable actor, will be open to his fans on July 4. He has a lot to tell his fans,” the organizers note. The celebrations will also include a concert of Kazakhstan band MuzART and the first international festival of the Club of the Cheerful and Sharp-Witted. The celebrations will finish with the traditional gala-concert with participation of Metiss’, Orda, Serebro bands and singers like Erbolat, Makpal Issabekova, Nyusha, Timati, GeeGun, Ivan Dorn, Dan Balan, Kelly Rowland that will be accompanied by large-scaled celebrations on the squares and the streets of the capital. Kazakhstan started celebrating the Capital Day in 1998. July 6 is a day off in Kazakhstan.
