Kazakhstan will widely implement water-saving technologies. First Vice Prime-Minister Serik Akhmetov decided that this technology is vital during his trip to drought-ridden Kostanay oblast, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan Prime-Minister’s official website. Vice-PM Serik Akhmetov visited Kostanay oblast upon instruction of Prime-Minister Karim Massimov. Akhmetov held a meeting dedicated to decreasing the negative impact of the drought in the region. “This year we are facing a negative effect of the drought in several regions of our country. Today we have seen that a stable harvest can be expected in the drought-ridden areas where advanced technologies have been introduced. It is time to widely intensify the work on implementation of water and resources-saving technologies,” Akhmetov said at the meeting in Kostanay after he visited the drought-ridden fields. Serik Akhmetov visited Auliyekol region, where he checked the grain fields and met with local farmers. After that Akhmetov checked the fields with water-saving technologies in Talapker village and inspected the work of the meat-processing plant Karassu-Yet. Vice-PM also visited Kostanay flour mill. Akhmetov stressed that package measures were taken upon Kazakhstan President’s instruction to retain bread prices and support agricultural producers. “Our objective is to retain bread and flour prices and avoid a decrease in the cattle and poultry livestock population. We have to create a seed stock for the next year as well,” he said. After the meeting Kazakhstan Agriculture Ministry, National Managing Holding KazAgro, Kostanay oblast administration and Grain Processors and Millers Union signed a memorandum on provision of the oblast with milling wheat.
