First Proton launched from Baikonur after crash

The first Proton-M carrier rocket after the July crash has been launched from Baikonur cosmodrome earlier today. Live broadcasted of the launch was available at the website of the Center for Operation of Space Ground-Based Infrastructure. The launch of the rocket with Breeze-M transfer orbit stage and European telecommunication satellite Astra-2E was performed at 01:38 a.m. (Moscow time) on September 30. The launch went smooth with no accidents. The satellite is expected to be released into the orbit from the transfer orbit stage of the rocket at 10:50 a.m. Moscow time. Launches of Proton carrier rockets were suspended after the accident that took place on July 2, when Proton-M exploded 39 seconds after the launch and fell 2.5km away from the launch pad.
