Ukraine's Foreign Minister visits Kazakhstan

Ukrainian Foreign Minister and the current OSCE Chairman Leonid Kozhara is rendering official visits to Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports citing the Director of the Information Policy Department of Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Yevgeniy Perebiynis. According to him, the Minister is supposed to visit Uzbekistan on October 11-13, Kazakhstan on October 14, Kyrgyzstan on October 15, Tajikistan on October 16 and Turkmenistan on October 17-18. “The Foreign Ministers is going to focus on activation of bilateral relations in political, trade-and-economic and cultural-and-humanitarian sectors, and on fully utilizing the huge potential of cooperation with traditionally friendly Central Asian countries,” he said. According to him, the tour will focus on interaction in different multilateral formats, including between CIS countries, positions on international issues and enhancement of cooperation between the Foreign Ministries. During his yesterday's visit to Kazakhstan Minister Kozhara met First Vice-Prime-Minister and Minister of Regional Development Bakytzhan Sagintayev. They discussed bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Ukraine and the current state of affairs in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Minister Sagintayev said that relations between the two countries were traditionally developing in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and trust and the Kiev was an important political and economic partner for Kazakhstan both in CIS and in Europe. He called Ukraine to help Kazakhstan develop its aviation and railroad engineering industries and cooperate in space exploration. Minister Kozhara said Kazakhstan and Ukraine shared similar positions on most of the regional and international issues and continued to draw closer to each other. Speaking about Ukraine's European integration priorities Minister Kozhara assured that creation of the Ukraine - EU free trade zone would not hinder development of Ukraine's cooperation with the Customs Union member-countries (Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus).
