US companies thinking of expanding their business in Kazakhstan

US companies intend to expand their business in Kazakhstan. On his visit to NY, the country’s Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrissov discussed prospects of cooperation with US investors, a Tengrinews journalist reports, citing the Foreign Ministry’s Press Service.

US companies intend to expand their business in Kazakhstan. On his visit to NY, the country’s Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrissov discussed prospects of cooperation with US investors, a Tengrinews journalist reports, citing the Foreign Ministry’s Press Service.

Minister Idrissov arrived in NY to attend the 69th session of the UN General Assembly and hold bilateral talks with his foreign counterparts and heads of international organizations.

“On the first day of the visit the Minister met reps of US companies, notably those of Boeing, Sikorsky Aircraft, Citigroup, Chevron and some others. They dwelt on ways to strengthen cooperation and prospects of business in Kazakhstan following the newly announced incentives for investors. US businessmen lauded the recently introduced visa-free regime for citizens of 10 nations, including the USA. Given the anticipated measures to further enhance the investment climate in Kazakhstan, reps of US companies expressed desire to expand their business in Kazakhstan, notably in the non-extractive sector”, the press-release reads.

The Minister had a number of bilateral meetings, notably with his counterparts from Algeria and Costa-Rica. The sides discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations, possible ways to expand cooperation, interaction within international organizations, and dwelt on acute issues on the international agenda.

“Minister Idrissov gave interviews to leading US media and UN radio to answer questions related to Kazakhstan’s priorities pertaining to its bid for permanent membership in the UN Security Council for 2017-2018, Kazakhstan’s attitude to the situation in Ukraine, suggestions on the UN climate summit, Kazakhstan’s foreign policy in general”, the statement reads.
