Sailau automated system will not be used for parliamentary elections in 2012, Tengrinews.kz
reports citing chairman of the Central Elections Commission Kuandyk Turgankulov.
“It (Sailau system) was not used in the last two elections. The first reason is that the system turned out to be unpopular among voters. As you know, there are two ways to vote, but our voters have tended to the traditional voting system. Second reason is that the system has been criticized initially and political parties still do not trust it. Third important factor is that significant funds are required to update this system and make it work,” Kuandyk Turgankulov said on November 16.
