Nursultan Nazarbayev has gathered 97.7% votes according to the preliminary data from the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan, Tenrgienws reports.

“According to the preliminary information from the polling stations, 0.7% of voters across the country voted for Abelgazy Kussainov, 97.7% for Nursultan Nazarbayev and 1.6% for Turgun Syzdykov. We are updating the data as we are getting the information from the 14 Oblasts and Astana and Almaty cities of national significance. The law allocates two days for this procedure. In accordance with the Election Law, the Central Election Commission has to announce the final results for early Presidential Elections (…) no later than 7 days after the election date, which in this case means no later than May 3, 2015,” Kuandyk Turgankulov of the Commission said.

95.22% of Kazakhstanis voted on April 26. The Chairmen of the CEC Turgankulov noted that Astana boasted 97.18% voter turnout (against the previously reported 94.51%) after all the polling stations located abroad and related to the capital completely their work.

“We have already noted that for the first time in the history of the Independent Kazakhstan, voters have showcased such a strong public stance and political will in support of the country’s development,” Turgankulov said.

On April 26, Kazakhstanis were able to vote at the early Presidential elections from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at their designed voting stations. At 9 p.m., the Central Election Commission announced the official closure of the election wards across Kazakhstan.

According to exit polls, Nazarbayev gained 97% of votes, Kussainov got 0.63% and Syzdykov earned 1.87% of votes from Kazakhstanis.
