Our nation has immutable and eternal independence: Kazakh Senate Speaker

Speaker of Senate, Kazakhstan Parliament’s upper chamber, Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev has summarized the legislative work of 2014 and told about the tasks for 2015, Tengrinews reports.

He noted that 2015 would be a special year for Kazakhstan, especially in its social and cultural life. Kazakhstan is preparing to celebrate the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate, the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan People's Assembly and the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

“Honoring the great values of our history is the basis for protection of national interests and strengthening patriotism in Kazakhstan. These important events should be based on the thoughtful and profound idea of the President that our nation has the immutable and eternal independence that strengthens from year to year. I am sure that together with the president and together with all the people we will make every effort to achieve this goal. Thank you for the joint work and congratulations on the coming New Year. Let our motherland prosper, let the lives and well-being of our people improve! I wish you a peaceful sky, happiness and prosperity in your families, good health and success in your work, " Tokayev said ending the plenary session of the Senate.

"In general, despite the turmoil in the global economy and international politics, the outgoing year was a special one for Kazakhstan in terms of volume and intensity of the work done. Thanks to timely decision-making and rational actions made under the leadership of President Nursultan Nazarbayev, the country has achieved results. Parliament along with the government has honorably accomplished the responsible tasks of the legislature. More than 100 laws have been adopted this year are, as a whole, they make up a strong legal basis that ensures the implementation of the strategic program aimed at socio-economic growth of the country. The year of 2014 marked by certain challenges within the international community clearly demonstrated the importance of preparedness to rapidly and optimally respond to the challenges of the time," the speaker of the Senate said.

In 2015 year, the parliament is expected to carry out a systematic and large-scale work. "The successful implementation of the Nurly Zhol program for the good of our country is a historical responsibility entrusted to all of us by the president. This is something we should not take lightly. Our main task is to provide the legislative support to the country's largest projects. As the president said, improving the wellbeing of the population and the quality of life is the most important task of the state. Therefore, we must always work to ensure social stability," Tokayev said.

Ensuring the legislative support to the country’s interests within the Eurasian Economic Union is also necessary, Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev added.

"In the present and fast changing time, your rich experience and deep knowledge will certainly be necessary for the strengthening of the state,"  Tokayev concluded.
