Nazarbayev calls for no politics in Eurasian Economic Union

Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev has called to remove all the politics aspects from the Eurasian Economic Union agreements, Tengrinews reports from Moscow. Nursulatn Nazarbayev proposed this at the yesterday's Eurasian Commission session that was also participated by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Beralus President Alexander Lukashenko. "We are developing an economic union and the task of our commission is to remove all the clauses that go beyond the economic integration from the agreement. I think the discussion we have made is clear. Things like border security, migration policies, defense system, healthcare, education, science, culture, and legal aid in civil, criminal and administrative cases don’t belong to economic integration and should not be brought into the Economic Union format," the President of Kazakhstan said. Nazarbayev added that the proposal to vest the High Council of presidents and governments of the member-states with supranational powers was unacceptable. "We already have the Commission that has supranational powers. (...) Its authority is clearly regulated by the signed agreements, that cover only the economic sector," Kazakhstan's President stressed at the session. Earlier, Kazakhstan and Russia signed a range of bilateral documents, including an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in transportation of Russian crude across Kazakhstan to China. The Presidents of the two countries also signed an agreement on military-and-technical cooperation.
