President Nazarbayev named Astana, Almaty, Shimkent and Aktobe as the future urban centers of Kazakhstan in the annual State-of-the-Union address he made on Friday. The speech was titled Kazakhstan’s Way-2050: Common Goal, Common Interests, Common Future, Tengrinews reports. “The biggest cities of Kazakhstan Astana and Almaty, and later Shymkent and Aktobe will become the country's first major urban centers,” the President said. The Head of the State had previously addressed the future of laкge cities and their importance to the country's economy. Some officials have already started implemented the Presidential instructions into the real life. According to Governor of South Kazakhstan Oblast Askar Myrzakhmetov, an action plan to build new administrative buildings and a business center in Shymkent was approved and 3.63 square kilometers of land was allocated for the construction.
