Kazakhstan has provided humanitarian aid to Sri Lanka. Kazakhstan Prime Minister Serik Akhemtov instructed the Ministry of Finance to allocate $200 thousand to help Sri Lanka, Tengrinews reports citing Adilet website. Under the Prime Minister’s order signed on December 20, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has to transfer the financial aid to the designated bank account and the Ministry of Finance has to control the use of the aid. Kazakhstan is considered one of the key humanitarian players in the Central Asia. Earlier Kazakhstan assisted in peacekeeping. In July 2012, Kazakhstan donated 80 thousand liters of sunflower oil and 120 tons of wheat flour totally worth $260 thousand to Tajikistan.
