Kazakhstan is ready for an increase in cargoes transit from the U.S. to Afghanistan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing an official representative of Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry Altai Abibullayev. "Even if there are any fluctuations in the amount of cargoes or frequency of the transit, everything will be done in line with the existing agreements,” Altai Abibullayev said commenting on the possibility of an increase of transit of American cargoes to Afghanistan via Kazakhstan amid the cooling relations between the U.S. and Pakistan. Pakistan has been the main transport corridor for supply of non-military cargoes to the American forces. November 2011 Kazakhstan ratified an agreement on railroad transit. This agreement on air transit of non-military cargoes and personnel was achieved in April to replace a memorandum of understanding.
