"In accordance with paragraph 1 of Article 70 of the Constitution of Kazakhstan, Article 4 of the Constitutional Law "On the Government of Kazakhstan,” in connection with the abdication of powers by the Government of Kazakhstan during the inauguration of the newly elected President of Kazakhstan, I hereby decree: the Government of Kazakhstan shall perform its duties until the approval of the new Government," the document said.

The Decree comes into force on the date of signing.

The current Government was formed in April 2014. Karim Massimov was appointed Prime Minister on April 2, 2014. Today he held a meeting of the Cabinet.

According to the procedure, the Cabinet of Minister automatically resigns after the newly elected president takes office. According to the Constitution of Kazakhstan, the President, after consultations with the political parties represented in the Mazhilis, the lower chamber of the Parliament, offers a new prime minister for approval.
