International non-government organization Transparency International has published its annual report called Corruption Perceptions Index that shows corruption level in different countries. Along with Russia, Iran, Honduras, Guyana and the Comoros Islands, Kazakhstan is ranked 133rd out of 176 countries in the report. Scoring 28 points out of 100, Kazakhstan remains in the list of highly corrupted countries, even though it has moved 1 line up in countering corruption compared to the last year’s results. Corruption Perceptions Index reflects the level of corruption perception in the state sector and rates countries by the scale from 0 (high corruption level) to 100 (almost no corrupted officials). This year the least corrupted countries include Denmark, Finland and New Zealand that scored 90 points each. The experts tagged Afghanistan, North Korea and Somalia the most corrupted countries with 8 points each. Out of all post-Soviet countries, Estonia shows the best results in countering corruption (the 32nd place and 64 points), while Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are the worst ones (the 170th place and 17 points).
