Kazakhstan General Prosecutor discussed elections and Zhanaozen with head of OSCE mission

Kazakhstan General Prosecutor Askhat Daulbayev met with head of Election Observation Mission of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR EOM) Miklos Haraszti in Astana, Tengrinews.kz reports citing General Prosecutor’s press-service. Daulbayev told Haraszti about the course of the elections preparations and informed him on the activities of Kazakhstan prosecution authorities. He also updated Haraszti on the situation in Zhanaozen and on the measures taken to stabilize and restore the town. 99 people applied for the status of observers of the 2012 elections in Kazakhstan. They include 46 representatives of the ODIHR/OSCE, 45 come from the CIS and another 8 are observers from 5 foreign countries.
