Nazarbayev protected Islam at the 4th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, Tengrinews.kz reports. “Controversial processes are happening in the Islamic world these days. This world includes dynamic economies and the countries with serious social and political problems. Islam is a massive and growing layer of the cultural and material human heritage. The present and future global community cannot be pictured without Islam. Any attempts to obstruct Islam are short-sighted and even dangerous. We need to understand what is happening in this part of the big and diversified world. Kazakhstan is a country with a majority of its population being Muslims. The Islamic religion is one of the spiritual pillars of our people. We have worked out a unique formula of the national unity and accord of all Kazakhstan citizens, regardless of their religious, ethnic and cultural appurtenance,” Kazakhstan President said. Nazarbayev noted that next year the 10th anniversary of the first Congress will be celebrated and he would like to prepare and adopt a special declaration of the Religious Leaders Council stressing the importance and the relevance of the dialog to increase the role of the peace-making efforts of the religious and spiritual leaders. “Holding of the Congresses of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Astana confirms that the thesis on unrelieved differences and disputes between the religions is only a phantom. Religious do not fight between each other; these are people, states and politicians fighting. World’s great minds tag the religion the formula of morals.
