A young man spent 5 days in the Kyzylorgda Oblast steppes before he was found by a rescue team, Tengrinews reports citing STV.

The man works at a plague control station. He was on his way to Koskudyk station from Kuandariya village. As in a worst-case scenario, he ran out of petrol and his cell phone battery died. While looking for help, the man found a well made by local shepherds. He used his shirt to get the water out of the well - he tied it to a piece of wire and lowered it into the well, then he squeezed the shirt to get the water. While roaming the steppes for five days, the unfortunate young man ate saxaul seeds and grass to survive. As he started losing his strength and prepared to die, he wrote a message on his car. “Father, mother! I do not want to part with you!”

He was found by one of seven rescue teams. Local police organized rescue operation after receiving information about the man's disappearance. “A MI-8 helicopter (…) was used in the rescue operation. The man;s route was thoroughly combed. The man was found one the second day of the search. He is already back with his family,” Zhalgas Zhusupov of the Kyzylorda Oblast DIA said.
