The population of Kazakhstan's capital Astana now exceeds 780 thousand people, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the official website of Astana administration. “As of February 1, 2013 Astana’s population made 780,880 people: 363,545 (46.6 percent) in Almaty region, 103,438 (13.2 percent) in Yessil region and 313,897 (40.2 percent) in Saryarka region of the city,” the message states. Besides, according to the administration, the population of Astana grew by 2,797 people compared to the beginning of the year: by 2,106 people in Saryarka region, 721 people in Yessil region and minus 30 people in Almaty region of the city. “The population increase is Astana is also a result of migration (from other cities of Kazakhstan). The natural increase of the population in 2013 made 1,542 people, while the migration-driven increase made 1,255 people,” the website writes.
