Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member-countries have highly appreciated the Cobra light armored reconnaissance vehicles brought by Kazakhstan to the SCO peacekeeping maneuvers in Tajikistan, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Kazakhstan Ministry of Defense press-service. “Kazakhstan airmobile forces brought two Cobra reconnaissance vehicles in an AN-12 military transport airplane to the maneuvers held in Tajikistan. These vehicles have been put into service of Kazakhstan's Ground Forces only this year. The Cobra vehicles have been used to carry out special operations and reconnaissance during the training. The participants of the maneuvers from other countries have evaluated highly the quality of work done by Kazakhstan Cobras and the professionalism it their crews,” the Ministry’s officials said. The active phase of SCO Peace Mission 2012 joint anti-terrorist military command and staff training exercise was held at Chorukh-Dayron training range in Tajikistan under the aegis of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Military units from Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan took part in the training. Kazakhstan was represented by a detachment of its air assault brigade of the Airmobile Forces and Air Forces. The coalition forces successfully achieved their main task that was to improve algorithms of operations of military command SCO member-countries in preparing and executing anti-terror missions in mountainous areas. They exchanged experience, improved methods of resolving crisis situations and ensuring security in the region. Kazakhstan, Chinese, Kyrgyzstan, Russian and Tajikistan Ministers of Defense visited the site of the maneuvers to monitor the training actions. Tajikistan president and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Emomali Rakhmon came to the site as well. Peace Mission 2012 is the sixth Shanghai Cooperation Organization maneuvers. The previous Peace Mission under the aegis of SCO was held in Kazakhstan at Matybulak training range in Zhambyl Oblast in 2010.
