Over 50 million tons of crude pumped via Atasu-Alashankow oil pipeline

Over 50 million tons of crude has been delivered to China via the Atasu –Alashankow pipeline as of the end of 2012, KazTag reports, referring to China’s Xinhua Agency. According to Urumqi customs data, since May 2006 – when the oil shipment started officially – a total of 50.8 million tons of crude worth $32.85 billion has been pumped. According to the customs data, in 2012 the oil was mainly shipped by state-owned enterprises to Xinjiang and Beijing. Since that time the volume of crude has been growing by 20% a year on average. The 11th intermediate pumping station will be launched in 2013 and works will be completed to modernize the flow meter at the measurement station.
