Senator Svetlana Dzhalmagambetova suggests to return the draft pension law for rework, Tengrinews.kz reports. “We are reviewing the draft law’s concept today. I think that the law does not solve the main problem: it does not fulfill the President’s instruction to reform the retirement system. The issue has been approached lopsidedly in the draft law. The government tells us that these issues will be considered during the budget review in autumn, so let’s give them an opportunity to do so by retuning the draft law without approving its current wording. It has to be revised by autumn and adopted after all the problematic aspects are reviewed. I will not vote for this draft law,” Dzhalmagambetova said after discussion of the draft law on Monday. Senator Iran Amirov expressed a similar opinion. “I was against it and I remain against it. My vote will not make much difference right now. I have listened to the deputies of the main commission here. From the questions to the law drafters and their speeches I understand that now all deputies of the main commission support the draft law,” he said. The new draft law provides for gradual raise of retirement age for women from 58 to 63 starting from 2014. Earlier the draft law raised heated discussions in the Majilis (lower chamber of the Parliament), but was approved anyway. By Altynai Zhumzhumina
