Kazakhstani swimmer Dmitriy Balandin has become the champion of the Asian Games in Men's 50m Breaststroke, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
Balandin won the gold and set a new record at the Asian Games with 27.87 seconds. Japanese swimmer Yasuhiro Kosuke (27.89 seconds) won the silver medal and Sandeep Senjwal (28.26 seconds) from India took the bronze.
Earlier, the 19 y.o. swimmer won gold in Men’s 100m Breaststroke and Men’s 200m Breaststroke. In the process Balandin set another Asian Games record covering the 200 meters in 2.07.67.
The Kazakhstani team has a total of 34 medals, out of which 8 are gold, 9 are silver and 17 are bronze. The team retains its fourth place in the ranking.
The 17th Asian Games conclude on October 4.
